Terms & Conditions – Local Legends of South Cotswolds

Purpose
Local Legends celebrates community groups and organisations that strengthen the South Cotswolds through voluntary effort, creativity, and care. Recognition is given to groups that are rooted in their communities and making a tangible difference to local lives.

1. Group Type

Open to not-for-profit organisations, including:

  • Registered charities

  • Voluntary and community organisations

  • Informal/unregistered groups with a clear community purpose

  • Social enterprises and CICs operating on a not-for-profit basis

Groups do not need to be formally constituted, but should show:

  • A clear community purpose

  • A named lead contact responsible for the group or project

  • A basic decision-making structure (e.g. how decisions are made and who is involved)

2. Community Contribution

Groups should provide evidence of how they support their community, for example:

  • Running local activities or events

  • Providing support or services for specific groups (e.g. young people, older residents, carers)

  • Creating opportunities for volunteering and social connection

  • Improving access to nature, culture, sport, or wellbeing activities

  • Offering practical help, advice, or peer support

3. Mission Alignment

Eligible groups must show that their activities support at least one of the following aims:

  • Improve health and wellbeing

  • Support young people, older residents, or families

  • Promote social inclusion and accessibility

  • Increase opportunities for nature, arts, sport, or culture

  • Strengthen community resilience and connection

4. Geographic Scope

Groups must be based in, or working primarily with, communities across the South Cotswolds.

5. Inclusivity & Fairness

Activities must be inclusive, accessible, and non-discriminatory. Priority is given to groups that:

  • Reach underserved or marginalised communities

  • Bring together people from different backgrounds

  • Promote equality and accessibility

6. Desirable Qualities

While not required, recognition may be prioritised for groups that:

  • Involve volunteers in their activities

  • Encourage collaboration with other local groups

  • Use sustainable or eco-friendly approaches

  • Show creativity in responding to community needs

7. Not Eligible

Groups will not qualify if their activities are:

  • Commercial or profit-making

  • Political or party-affiliated

  • Based entirely outside the South Cotswolds

  • Lacking a clear community benefit

What You’ll Need to Apply

Applicants will be asked to provide:

  • A short description of the group and its aims

  • Contact details for a lead person

  • A description of the activity/project and who it supports

  • Examples, photos, or references (if available)
